Getting started
Open Splyt and choose Control on the device that will run the session. To train with a single device, turn on “This device is also a pod” in the Pods tab and run a D1. To use more devices, open Splyt on each one and choose Pod: they show up on the control under “New pods”. Accept them, set each one’s position, and start a block.
Frequently asked questions
Which devices work?
iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and Android phones and tablets with Android 8.0 or later. One of them is the control, which can also be a pod. You can use up to 6 pods per session. Apple Watch support is coming in a future version.
Can I mix iPhone and Android?
Yes. iOS and Android devices join the same session, and any of them can be the control or a pod. A block with an Android pod forms a series separate from the Apple-only series, because each device’s screen and touch add different latencies.
The pods don’t show up on the control.
The devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, with Splyt open. The first time, iOS asks for local network permission: tap Allow. If you declined, turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › Splyt. Guest networks and some public networks isolate devices from each other; in that case, use another network or your home router.
Why does the app ask for local network access?
To connect your devices to each other during training. Nothing leaves your network and no data goes to the internet.
Is the reaction time reliable?
Each pod timestamps the stimulus display and the tap on its own clock, so the network never enters the measurement. The screen and touch add a fixed latency of a few milliseconds, which doesn’t change the trend across sessions.
What are a series and a baseline?
Each combination of drill, parameters, number of pods, and response mode forms a series. The first 5 valid sessions become the baseline, and from then on the app shows the trend with a 95% confidence interval.
Why do I see “No detectable trend yet”?
The app only says “improving” or “worsening” when the entire confidence interval sits on one side of zero. With few sessions the interval is wide; it narrows as you train.
How do I leave pod mode?
Outside a block, tap the badge with the pod’s name at the top of the screen. On Android, the back button also asks whether you want to leave.
There’s no sound in D5 or D6.
Sound plays even in silent mode, but not with the volume all the way down. Turn up the volume on the control, which is the device that speaks. Speech uses the app’s language; if the device has no voice in that language, it falls back to Portuguese.
How do I export my data?
In the History tab, export the trials and blocks CSV for a period and share it from the system share menu.
How do I delete my data?
Athletes can be archived in the app itself. To delete everything, delete Splyt from the device: the data exists only there.
